This occurred on the set of Alec Baldwin's film, 'Rust.' As a result of this unfortunate event, the American Film Institute has launched a memorial scholarship to honor Hutchins by creating a fund for women filmmakers. Throughout her career, she was an advocate for female directors of photography and directors because she had faced her own struggles that other women have faced in the entertainment industry.
The scholarship aims to help women in the film industry grow in their movie business careers, which would hopefully bring more light to women in the entertainment industry. Unfortunately, this is a demographic that is not widely represented.
